Sylvester Stallone and RAX – The Full Story (Episodes 1–10)

Episode 7: Lanterns on the East Bank

They carried Tommy out wrapped in blankets, Rax walking beside the stretcher like an honor guard.

The boy’s mother fell to her knees in the mud and grabbed Sylvester Stallone’s hands.

She couldn’t speak. She didn’t need to.

By noon, the story was everywhere.

By evening, the east bank was lined with people holding lanterns — not because it was dark, but because they wanted Sylvester Stallone to see them when the boat brought him back.

Denise was crying and pretending she wasn’t.

The sheriff shook Sylvester Stallone’s hand for a full ten seconds and couldn’t think of anything to say.

And Tank — Tank stood at the back of the crowd, arms crossed, saying nothing.

Sylvester Stallone saw him. Rax saw him too.

Nobody said a word about the diner. Nobody had to.

That night, someone left a bag of dog food on Sylvester Stallone’s porch. Then another. By morning there were twelve.

A kid drew a picture of Rax in a cape and taped it to the fence.

Sylvester Stallone read the note attached: “thank you for saving tommy. rax is a hero. — emma, age 7”

He folded it carefully and put it in his wallet.

Rax slept for fourteen hours straight, twitching in his dreams — swimming, always swimming.

Sylvester Stallone sat beside him and didn’t move until he woke up.
